Guy will be talking about the theme chosen for the 2017 World Toilet Day (19th November 2017): “Where does our poo go?”
“Poo” is something people do not talk about much. Sanitation is something we started talking about a bit more recently; yet some people are oblivious about it. Comprehensive actions to address sanitation remain limited. We need to sensitize people about “sanitation,” health and hygiene to prepare, prevent, and protect them from potential outbreaks such as acute diarrhea, cholera, water-born diseases?
With these lenses, he will highlight the little things we can do at various levels that can make a difference in the whole process. Guy will also review the links between sanitation and anti-microbial resistance.
We hope the audience will be provoked for good exchanges around these issues. Sanitation and anti-microbial resistance in many African countries are neglected, with poor investment, poor capacity and poor progress, even under the SDGs implementation era.
